[Food Review] Triple Three @ Mandarin Orchard Hotel

A posh restaurant in a classy hotel, Triple Three really promises quality in every bite, and the spread that was available was rather breath-taking.

Iced water, coffee, tea and MILO was complementary, while all other drinks were ala carte. Since I don’t really bulk on drinks for a buffet, I was okay with it.

… I toured around the counters to see what was in store for me!

Broccoli, Mashed Potato, Ham and Ribeye Beef
Live Cooking Station – Squid Ink, Lobster Bisque and Risotto(Mushroom)

Appetisers, Seafood on Ice
Fresh Oysters
Sushi Bar
Indian Section – Roti Prata, Naan, Curry, Briyani, etc
Bread, Cheese and Biscuits
Wide Selection of Cheese – Parmesan, Goat’s cheese, Camembert, Elemental, Brie, …

Desserts Corner – pretty little desserts…

Dinner at Triple Three had various themes for each night, and since I headed down to Triple Three on a Wednesday night, and they were having their Wagyu Wednesday, promising guests with a delightful treat to the special Japanese Wagyu Beef.

Special Live Cooking Station – Wagyu Beef

The live cooking station served 2 Wagyu Beef variations – grilled beef with Sweet Potato and the Gyudon with a perfect onsen egg.

Wagyu Beef Gyudon with Onsen Egg

How else to describe this mini bowl of goodness other than with one word – perfect. The onsen egg was perfectly executed, runny yolk that flows out nicely when broken, and when mixed with the rice and perfectly fried beef slices, every mouth becomes heavenly.

Teppanyaki Wagyu Beef

This fat, juicy and sweet slice of beef grilled teppanyaki-styled is soft enough to simply melt in your mouth, and paired with the nicely grilled sweet potato, you will simply not be satisfied with simply having one plate of it.

Freshly Shucked Oysters (and clams in the background)
Ribeye Beef, Potato Croquette, Jellyfish appetiser, broccoli and teppanyaki veggies
Salted Egg Yolk Crayfish

The crayfish was perfectly executed – sweet, fat and juicy, yet the meat was tough enough to let you chew on it and enjoy it thoroughly. The Salted Egg Yolk sauce, however, was pretty much more of a disappointment, as the taste of salted egg yolk was rather non-existant.

Juicy crayfish meat
Chawanmushi with roe
Lobster Bisque – sweet and cheesy, really delicious
Squid Ink risotto with Pan fried octopus slices – perfectly matched
Mushroom Risotto
Smoked salmon, snow fish, grilled prawns, soft shell crab maki, cauliflower in cheese, seasoned jellyfish, marintaed duck
Har Kao
Hokkaido Beef, Fried Breaded Hiroshima Oysters, Potato Croquette
Chopped Tuna with cucumber and yellow beans, fresh salmon sashimi
Fresh tuna and swordfish sashimi cuts
Inari, squid sushi, california maki, rib eye beef
Mentaiko Baguette, assorted cheese and bread
Various cute little cakes
