[Food Review] Kai Sushi and Robatayaki @ Plaza Singapura

Aburi Chirashi Don [$24.80]
I have to admit, I love all things aburi-ed. There simply isn’t enough options of Aburi Chirashi Dons in Singapore! (So far I only know of this, The Sushi Bar and Tatsuya). In fact, I find it outrageous how is it possible that such a good aburi chirashi don isn’t made popular across Singapore! (I only knew of this place through a friend).

seared salmon

Compared to The Sushi Bar, the atmosphere at Kai was much more quieter, and there was an absence of a long queue. Yet, their aburi chirashi don was heavenly. On top of the vinegared sushi rice, you can find so many heavenly pieces of seared sashimi – a large prawn, salmon, tuna, octopus, sea urchin, and many others! Price of this chirashi don is also really acceptable at only $24.80 considering the ingredients used!

Every slice of seared sashimi was an enjoyment and a new experience!

Comes with chawanmushi and miso soup.

Aburi Platter [$18.80]
A dish I would call the deconstructed version of my aburi chirashi don, this platter of aburi sushi boasts 7 different sushi that has all been seared! And oh look theres the sea urchin that I loved so much! The amount of effort placed into plating this dish is not to be overlooked as well!

simply a piece of art

The following dishes comes with chawanmushi, rice and miso soup as part of lunch set (was available even for dinner at the same price!)

Grilled Squid – really tasty!

Kai Sushi and Robatayaki is certainly a place that you can find value-for-money meals that are of high quality and affordable price range, I have no doubt that in the future, its name will become more and more well known across Singapore. Would I come back here again for more? Certainly.

  1. I went to Plaza Singapura Robatayaki on Sunday to celebrate my sister’ birthday. However, the Aburi Chirashi Don, the tuna inside is not fresh and the Gyu Stir Fried is overcooked. I have never
    tasted beef so tough before.
