Being Singaporean, you must certainly know what SHIOK means, and when it is used with a dish, what else can it mean?
Shiok Maki – word of this famous dish spread like wild fire upon its release and has since appeared in many places ranging from newspapers to food blogs.
Grilled unagi wrapped with avocado, topped with seared salmon and then submerged in sweet viscous cheesy sauce, then blow torched to perfection and layered with generous amounts of roe. Throw this whole maki into your mouth and out comes only one word – SHIOK AH!
This dish really blew me away, like all other typical Singaporeans, having read all the positive reviews everywhere. It truely is really shiok, with all the ingredients mixing together perfectly, one simply feel blissful eating it. You have to try it to know it.
… and thats not all thats good from Koh Grill and Sushi Bar!
Many of the other dishes off the menu looked pretty awesome too! Pity that I couldnt really afford all of them. But even simple dishes from them (like fried rice) tasted really good as well – sometimes the simplest dishes are the hardest to execute.
This bowl of Ramen was really well done! This was really one of the best ramen I’ve ever tasted – the char siew was in thick slices with little fats and tasted really good, complemented with a nicely cooked soft boiled egg, thick slices of naruto, bamboo shoot, seaweed, tangy and chewy ramen, all in a bowl of rich and thick broth of miso soup. I can say this easily beats a lot of ramen shops out there!
I would highly recommend everyone to reserve places there first! If not be prepared to wait for at least 30 mins! (the queue was horrendous)
